Jonathan Blow directs this puzzle adventure at Thekla, Inc., with Arc Games and Gamirror Games publishing. The pitch is a huge set of hand-made rooms rather than a combat campaign: more than one thousand puzzles, and hundreds of hours of play that does not repeat a single solved room. You move through an overworld and choose a cardinal path when you want a new kind of problem.
The roster is deliberately odd. A queen, a thief, a warrior, a wizard, and a talking boat are all playable roles, and several of them share a party instead of owning a private verb. North hauls objects, east swaps reflections, west fires colored beams, and south skips stones across open water. Those four systems stay separate until a Gold Room clears a bridge between a pair of realms.
What you actually play
There is no single correct march through the hub. The player walks the overworld freely, and fog pulls back as progress accumulates. Each cardinal path is a distinct world with its own lead and its own puzzle grammar. North is The Hearty Heroes of Hauling, a six-person crew. East is The Mirror Isles with the Trader. West is The Promise with the Explorer. South is Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes with the Sailor. The Queen is guided through every world, and her past is a separate story layer rather than a fifth cardinal mechanic.
The game holds more than one thousand hand-crafted puzzles and hundreds of hours of unique play. Interviews put the count above 1,400 puzzles, with a normal pace near 250 hours, and the same adventure has been described as roughly 1,500 puzzles. Clearing every room has been put at 500 hours, and composer Martin Stig Andersen describes more than 500 hours. A first path through the four worlds is a shorter job than a 100 percent file, so those figures are different finishes, not four names for one number.
Credits that frame the puzzles
Jonathan Blow, known for Braid and The Witness, is the director and also has a special appearance in the cast. Emily O’Brien plays the Queen, Liam O’Brien the Warrior, Darin De Paul the Wizard, Anjali Bhimani the Bard, Matthew Waterson the Druid, and Erica Luttrell the Sailor. The Thief, Cleric, Trader, Explorer, and talking boat are on the roster without a named actor. Erik Braa, Andrew Kishino, Jamieson K. Price, and Sabrina Fest are additional voices with no role.
Windows on Steam is a launch platform, and Mac and Linux are not. Steam Deck is Verified. Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 share the 8 October 2026 date. The US Switch 2 price is $29.99, matching the Steam launch price, and PLAYISM handles the Japanese digital release. The base price is $29.99, with three bundles at 10 percent off: Mewgenics, Animal Well, and the original soundtrack. The soundtrack is also sold on its own. On the morning of 8 October the game was still marked coming soon, and some regions unlock on 9 October.

Questions
How long is a full playthrough?
The game offers hundreds of hours of unique gameplay and more than one thousand hand-crafted puzzles. Interviews put a normal pace near 250 hours and the puzzle count above 1,400, with roughly 1,500 puzzles in a longer account, and 500 hours to reach 100 percent. Those numbers describe different goals, so a first path through the four worlds is not the same commitment as a 100 percent file.
Which platform should I buy first?
Steam on Windows, Steam Deck, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 launch on 8 October 2026, or 9 October in some regions. Mac and Linux are unsupported. Deck is Verified for plug-in handheld play. Demo progress carries into the Steam release. The Switch 2 US price matches the $29.99 base game. The PlayStation 5 edition launches the same day and still has no add-on.
