Unlock day is Thursday 8 October 2026 on Steam, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. The date was set on 18 August, and some regions open on Friday 9 October. The base price, set on 24 September, is $29.99. On the morning of 8 October the game was still marked coming soon, so the date can be public before the buy button opens. Regions do not all unlock at the same minute.

Windows is supported. Mac and Linux are not. Deck is Verified. The US Switch 2 price is $29.99, and PLAYISM handles the Japanese digital release. The PlayStation 5 edition is still a concept, with no add-on. Arc Games and Gamirror Games publish. Thekla, Inc. develops, and Jonathan Blow directs. A full Chinese voice-over was in production for launch. English is the only language marked for full audio, and the Chinese recording does not change that on its own.

Platforms

Windows on Steam

Launch platform

Minimum spec is 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600, 8 GB of memory, a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 580 or Intel Arc A380, DirectX 12, and 14 GB of space. Recommended spec steps up to an i5-9600K or Ryzen R5 3600, 16 GB, a GeForce GTX 2070 Ti or Radeon RX 5700 or Intel Arc B5700, still on DirectX 12 and 14 GB. The build is single-player, with full controller support, DualSense, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. Achievements are included. Mac and Linux are unsupported.

Steam Deck

Steam Deck Verified

Handheld play is plug in and play, with the interface and controls tailored for the Deck. It shares the 8 October unlock with the Windows build. Demo progress carries into this Steam release, which is the practical reason to have kept a Next Fest save.

Nintendo Switch 2

Launch platform

The US price is 29.99 USD. PLAYISM handles the Japanese digital release. A Switch 2 review follows the 7 October embargo, and that review is separate from buying the game.

PlayStation 5

Launch platform

PlayStation 5 joined the platforms in the July overview and shares the 8 October date. The edition is still a concept, with no add-on. DualSense is supported on the Windows version as well.

How to read unlock day

Two clocks are easy to mix up. The embargo clock is 6:00 AM PT on 7 October, which governs reviews, including a Switch 2 review. The unlock clock is 8 October, sliding to 9 October for some regions. If the game still says coming soon on the morning of the 8th, the date has not been missed. The purchase button has not opened yet. Price and bundles were already public on 24 September, so the number $29.99 does not depend on that button.

The demo is a separate app, 4597250, from the full game, 499170. By launch week the demo could no longer be installed. Demo progress carries into the Steam release. Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 are not part of that save promise. If you are starting on a console, a demo file stays a Steam save until that promise is extended. Buy the full game as app 499170. The June demo and the October game do not share an install.

Text languages and the Chinese recording

English has full audio. French, Italian, German, Spanish - Spain, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese - Brazil, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese are interface languages without full audio marked. A full Chinese voice-over was being recorded for launch. That recording does not, by itself, mean Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese already have full audio. Gemiuster is the studio on that recording, and Gamirror Games is the China co-publisher. You can read the interface in any of those languages, including Spanish as spoken in Spain and Portuguese as spoken in Brazil. Spoken performances, for now, are the English cast.

The demo’s public-testing branch already let you change text language at runtime, and it added separate volume sliders, vsync, a frame cap, antialiasing, and a Very Performance preset. Those controls are on the July demo branch. They are not a promise that every launch platform ships the same preset names. Shader model 6.5 is specifically not required on that branch.

Questions

Why is the game still marked coming soon on 8 October?

The unlock is 8 October 2026, or 9 October in some regions, and the game was still marked coming soon on the morning of the 8th. The date, the $29.99 price, and the three bundles were already set in August and September. Coming soon on that morning means the purchase button had not opened, not that the date was withdrawn. Check the region if your copy flips a day later.

Does the Chinese voice-over mean full audio on Steam?

No. Only English is marked for full audio. Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese are interface languages without that mark. A full Chinese voice-over was being recorded toward launch by Gemiuster, with Gamirror Games co-publishing in China. A recording in production is not the same as full audio already in the game. Right now only English is flagged for full audio.
